How to use this calculator

Formula
Pace = time ÷ distance; time = pace × distance; distance = time ÷ pace
Distance is normalized to meters and pace to seconds per meter before the selected relationship is solved.
Calculation steps
- Convert the entered distance to meters and the compound finish time to seconds.
- Convert pace to seconds per meter, or derive it from the entered distance and finish time.
- Convert the result to minutes per kilometer and mile, then calculate cumulative equal-pace splits.
Worked example
A 5 km finish time of 30 minutes gives an average pace of 6:00 min/km, about 9:39 min/mi, and an equivalent speed of 10 km/h.
Assumptions
- The calculation uses elapsed time and measured distance; include stops only when they should affect the average pace.
- Split rows use perfectly even pacing and do not predict fatigue, hills, wind, surface, weather, or aid-station delays.
- A marathon is 42.195 km and a half marathon is 21.0975 km.
- One international mile equals exactly 1.609344 kilometers.

What is running pace?
Running pace is the time required to cover one distance unit, commonly shown as minutes per kilometer or minutes per mile.
Are the split times predictions?
They are an equal-pace plan derived from the calculated average. Real splits can vary because of terrain, weather, congestion, fatigue, and race strategy.
Should pauses be included in finish time?
Include pauses for an overall elapsed pace. Exclude them when you want moving pace based only on active running time.
Can I use this as a training or medical prescription?
No. It performs arithmetic planning only and does not account for fitness, health, heat, altitude, recovery, or individual training needs.
